And now, a momentary break from posting other people’s pictures and fancying myself a “curator.”
What the shit is going on at Gawker? For the past couple of years, I have used the site as my primary news source. I generally find news to be more palatable when served with a dash of snark and irreverence. Also, it’s a good place to avoid the “lets present both sides of every argument as equals, no matter how batshit and unfounded one side might be!” approach that journalism has latched onto these days. It’s one of the few sites on the internet with user comments that are actually insightful and worth reading. Have you ever read the comments section on a CNN post? Spare yourself.
The recent dearth of posts is certainly an issue. This annoyance has highlighted a whole mess of problems the site has been running into lately. Here is my unsolicited and incomplete list (listicle!) of grievances:
